The New Year!
January 7, 2008
Dear Praying Friends,
Ramona and I pray that you have had an enjoyable celebration of Christmas and New Years. It was a little lonely here in Cusco Peru, but high speed Internet sure has changed things. When we were in the Colombian Jungle I got an Amateur Radio License so that we could talk back and forth with family in the states. By the time we were in Mexico, email and phone calls filled the void a little. But now with high speed Internet and instant video we can see and talk to family anytime we want. It's still really new for our grandchildren, so we get a lot more funny faces than anything else.
We have new things for you to pray about. We are ready to start hunting a house to rent here in Cusco. We need it to be on one floor, big enough to have social gatherings with the Quechuas, close enough to town to have electricity, phone and high speed Internet and enough water pressure to run our washer and hot water heater. Some of you may remember that all Ramona wanted in Bogota was a magnolia tree. God provided the exact house, even with a magnolia tree in Bogota. He can do the same thing here in Cusco Peru.
Last Thursday night I started leading a seminary class on "Building Your Theology". I will meet with Quechua leaders at 5:00pm EST each Tuesday to prepare for the class on Thursday night at 7:00pm. While this class should only last 4 weeks, it will have to stretch out to at least 8 weeks to allow the men to absorb all of the materials. They wont be using computers, and most will study by candle or kerosene lamp light. Please pray that these men will be open to receive that which God has for them. We have five other seminary classes ready so please pray for me as my schedule for 2008 fills up.
January 22-27 our Cusco Training Institute will host 150 young people from all over Peru for training and fellowship. Pray that this will be a Spiritual as well as social event for these young people.
Thank you for your continued prayer and financial support. The Cusco Tool Project was fully funded and the Motorcycle Project partially funded. Please pray also for the continued construction of the inside of the orphanage, as Keith Powlison and I start building cabinets, cribs and whatever else is needed to start receiving babies.
And for those of you who didn't figure out from the PhotoBucket picture what we had for Christmas dinner, it was smoked alpaca!
