Reformation Day and the Quechua Indians
October 30, 2007

Dear Praying Friends,

Today is the day we celebrate who we are. On this day in 1517 Martin Luther nailed his now famous 95 Theses on the door of the Castle Church at Wittenberg, giving birth to what we call the Reformation. I had not really thought about this specific subject much in recent years until I heard Scott Wells preach on the subject last Sunday at my home church. He reminded us of the “Five Solas of the Reformation”, and what we believe:

  • Soli Deo Gloria - To God alone be the glory
  • Sola Scriptura - Scripture Alone
  • Sola Fide - Faith Alone
  • Sola Gratia - Grace Alone
  • Solus Cristus - Christ Alone

Quechua Indians in the Hinterlands of Peru have never heard of the “Five Solas of the Reformation” or that Jesus Christ died for their sins so that they might have eternal life. Ramona and I are excited that God is allowing us to take the exciting Gospel of Jesus Christ to this mostly unreached people group.

Please pray for us as we are getting our possessions down to four suitcases for our November 30th flight to Lima. Pray that when we get to Lima that we will be able to buy a four wheel drive truck, and all of the appliances, beds, dishes, etc. that we will need to set up ministry and housekeeping in Cusco. Pray that we will quickly acclimate ourselves to the 11,000 foot altitude that we will be working in. Pray that God will provide the contacts Keith Powlison and I will need to start making relationships in the remote Quechua villages.

As soon as we get our feet on the ground we will start posting pictures on Photobucket so that you can see where we are working and who we are working with. I see that this will be a ministry where we will be communicating prayer requests fairly frequently. Please let me know if you do not wish to receive these email updates.

Thank you for your faithful prayer and financial support. We pray that God will richly bless you, your family and your church.

Lord Bless,

Rich & Ramona
