Roger & Laura Dye

October 29, 2007

It is finally spring in Chile after a very long and cold winter. Not only did we run out of firewood, but there was none left to buy anywhere and no woods to go chopping in. We are finally warming up and happy to see the spring flowers. You might think that a truck carrying school bus yellow and orange paint spilled along all the the roadsides. Beautiful poppies everywhere!

I learned something new this week. I am sure most of you don't know what a Sporticus flip is. Though not completely clear about the matter I learned that it comes from a TV show and that it definitely broke a window in my bedroom.

"Hudson, I am not your cruise director! You'll have to find something to do without my help." I have said that so many times in the last few months. Hudson quickly finishes whatever schoolwork I give him and gets bored. This kid has to move ALL the time. Nothing new there. He has gotten some better about finding games to play or something incredibly dirty to do outside. This week we found out what other entertainment he has been exploring when Deanna closed her window and unknowingly locked Hudson out on the roof! He has crawled out one window and into another on the other side of the house! Who knows what else the kid has been doing?! I am also beginning to wonder about the attic crawl space since the door has been left open lately. I must go to cruise directors' school fast!

I greeted Batman at church, never really sure which kid it was. He kept the mask on the entire time. We have kept in contact with Batman's family (The Marin-Palezuelo family) for several years now since before he and his brother were born. Their regular attendance at church (which began while we were gone) has been a bright spot. Hudson told me later that he wants Batman to come every Sunday to church.

Roger is off this afternoon to pick up 30 chairs and the communion set from our church down to the new church plant downtown that John Rug has been working with. They are receiving new members today, an encouraging milestone in the life of this new congregation.

Suzy and I walked past some flowers yesterday. She said, "That was delightful, Mommy!" "Yes, Suzy. It was."

Know of our prayers for you all tonight,

Laura Dye for Roger and the kids, CHILE
