Roger & Laura Dye

December 9, 2007

Aida, our neighbor, always enjoyed the times in our garden listening to singers at Christmas time. Now she is dying. Cancer has ravaged her 87 year old body and even a tap breaks her bones. I was watering the front yard when I saw them putting her into an ambulance to take her to a place that could care for her pain needs during these last days. The maid stayed back inside the gate sniffling, while Aida's daughter in her typical diplomacy wiped her tears and explained to me what was happening.

When I talked to Cristian he immediately began working to gather some singers. We met them at the hospital Thursday while 6 singers gathered around her bed and sang praise songs. She closed her eyes and listened while the rest of us couldn't help but let the tears flow. Aida's daughter hugged each of the singers tearfully and thanked them for this unusual kindness. I was also touched that Cristian would take so seriously a request for a woman he had never met.

Roger asked the children, "Do the stars talk to us?" (leading into "The heavens declare the glory of the Lord.") Suzy said, "Well, they do, but they talk twinkle." Friday evening Roger will give a late night seminar at the church with his telescope, waiting for the moon to rise as well as the appearance of Mars. It seems there is a great deal of interest in this so we hope the stars will talk lots of twinkle on Friday night.

Know of our prayers for you all tonight.
