Roger and I tumbled and bumbled in the bus along the rocky coast. The waves crash their deep blue waters on the rocks. It is not those fair fields of Winnsboro, SC that we left behind, but still another version of home. We are doing well. The two little kids, Hudson and Suzy are getting their Spanish back. Both lost it while in the US this last year. Their reactions to Spanish have been a little strange. When they didn't understand, they started turning flips and making loud noises. That has subsided somewhat and Hudson now just gives hugs when he doesn't know what to say. Most people prefer that. The older kids are just taking it all in. Chile was most of what they knew before this past year. They look at the sights, the sky and ocean differently than Roger and I do. It seems to soothe them. . . definitely home to them. Worship with our small congregation looks quite different than it did more than a year ago. Hesitant men with faltering voices grew into one strong voice caring for the congregation and leading with confidence. Roger was very pleased. There are new faces. One woman arrived at the the top of our hill last year not searching for the Lord, but to kill herself. We are all thankful that the Lord intervened that day in her life. She has been "grafted" into our church family as well as others. Next Sunday, August 28th, the elders of the church have designated a church retreat for the day. We would appreciate your prayers for this time as a church. While the elders have been searching for God's direction, God has opened up yet another opportunity for a small mission to be born. John and Cathy Rug have started having worship services on Sunday evenings using the ministry center for the differently enabled, (CEMIPRE). The services were almost immediately well attended filling the ministry center. The biggest complaint at this point is that although the service ends at 7ish, the party doesn't until 10 or 11. I think it has something to do with a warm fire crackling in the fireplace and some hot tea, not to mention cakes and cookies of every species. We are so thankful for this warm and positive beginning to the mission called, Gracia y Paz, (Grace and Peace)! Hudson says, "Mommy, you are my favorite 43 year old!" Know of our prayers for you all tonight! Laura Dye for Roger and the kids, CHILE ------------------------------
