The kids informed me one evening after one of many missions conferences that it was indeed okay to pick one's nose, but it was very rude to pick one's teeth. . . in Thailand. And we were afraid of what they might be picking up at school?! After so many missions conferences our kids are now geography experts and even their hearts were pricked for other countries. Hudson informed us that he would die for Jesus and that he wanted to be a missionary in the countries where they don't allow missionaries, like Iraq. All of this happened while we stood in front of people each evening telling them about Chile. Oh, but we must pray more for our children! Our van, which was a gift to Roger's parents, now has 190,000 miles on it. With the help of a very kind and talented car mechanic, Chris Darner, the van has kept going with no serious mishaps. Chris makes fairly regular visits after work in the evenings to keep the aging van going sometimes working in the dark and rain. This last time when he opened up the hood of "Van Gogh" he said that he usually sees this problem after a fire not before. We often feel God's protection in our lives. This is one of those times. Good old "Van Gogh" has to go just another month and a half before we return to Chile, but only to visit two more churches in North Carolina. After that, we will leave the van with family for when Mom and Dad Dye are back in the US. I dressed Suzy in a sweet pink spring dress. We were to be introduced in front of a large congregation that morning. She was the picture of loveliness with her blonde hair and blue eyes, but I usually hold my breath until we get there. Many things can go wrong in just a few minutes. I was probably deep into my usual speech to the children about what to expect and how they were to behave or rather how they were NOT to behave in front of so many people when I glanced into the back seat. Suzy had found a black marker and drawn the cutest little Groucho Marx mustache on her own face. While I shrieked and panicked slightly, I noticed that Hudson had done the same thing. For one brief moment I thought, "Well, maybe we should all draw Groucho mustaches." They certainly would never forget the Dyes! Deanna scrambled to wash the marker off while we laughed all the way to church. Know of our prayers for you all tonight! Laura Dye for Roger and the kids ------------------------------
