July 3, 2003 - New Address & Our Friends The Ramsays

Date: Thursday, July 3, 2003

Dear brothers and sisters,

It has taken a few days, but we are finally connected with a home phone and a new E-mail server and address. Please note and change your address books according to the information at the bottom of this page. Note that the "rrcrane@adelphia.net" stands for Richard and Robyn - 2 "r" s at the beginning. Our new phone is 786 293 3074.

It has been two weeks ago since we moved into our house. We spent the first few days painting the bedrooms (which we didn't expect to do). Yet Richard and Mar̀a Angélica Ramsay were very gracious hosts and accommodated our family of 6 (+1 Joe Cogliandro, Janette's fiancee) in their home for almost a week. What a blessing to have such dear friends right across the street from us. Daniel has been enjoying his adopted "older brother" Nicolas Ramsay and also his very near future older brother in law, Joe. Susana has also been enjoying her adopted "younger sister", Melanie Ramsay.

Let me introduce you to our friends. You can see a picture of them on our web page together with this letter. Richard Ramsay, born in Dodge City, Kansas and a Westminster Seminary grad, is an MTW missionary working with Logoi-Flet. We will be working in the same office together and car pooling. Richard went to Chile as an MTW missionary in 1978 and worked in theological education and church planting there for 21 years. We worked together as church planters of Gracia y Paz in Santiago for a number of years and we both wrote TEE (Theological Education by Extention) courses and taught in the "Seminario Juan Calvino" which later was changed to the "Evangelical Institute of Chile". We have enjoyed each other's friendship, world and life view, and philosophy of ministry for over a couple decades now. I respect Rich very much and look forward to learning from him as we labor together for Christ in Latin America. His wife, María Angélica (Angie for the Anglos), was his student in seminary and they married in 1984. She is Robyn's closest friend and they have enjoyed each other and have been closely in touch even in these three years in which we were in Chile and they were up here. Angie is a very able trilingual secretary-administrator at MINTS (Miami International Seminary). Daniel will be going to the same school as Nicolás and Melanie - Westminster Christian School, ten minutes away from where we live.

What is on our platter right now?:
  1. Continue to open boxes, buy some furniture, and take care of red-tape related to our move.
  2. Next week I will be setting up my office in Logoi and begin my work there
  3. Start scheduling trips and planing course preparation in pastoral psychology (it looks like I will be taking a trip to Columbia, S.A. in November)
  4. Many, many details related to planing Janette and Joe's wedding on August 23erd.
  5. Getting to know Joe more and enjoying some family time together.
  6. Start getting acquainted with the Key Biscayne church where we will be participating and ministering.

    As you pray for us:
    Praise God:
  1. For giving us such good friends near by to encourage and support us in this new ministry
  2. For being able to buy a house here and for safety in travel and moving our things here (even if two chairs got broken!).
  3. For God's generous provision of all our needs
  4. Praise God that my mother's health is better.

    Please Pray:
  1. That God will continue to mold us into His image and make us useful servants in ministry through Logoi-Flet
  2. For Daniel as he adjusts to a new move - his new friends, a new school, and especially as he grieves the loss of one of his two best friends in Lancaster (this friend died in an accident just this past week).
  3. For the wedding preparations - that God will be glorified in the ceremony and as Joe and Janette begin their life together.
  4. For good financial stewardship as we juggle so many expenses in a short period of time.

For Christ and His Kingdom
Richard and family
