Have a Blessed New Year

Greetings,
In Latin America we use the expression "have a prosperous New Year", and
it usually means success in all things - especially financially. I´m sure
the recession is turning most people´s thoughts to having a better year in
that regard. Some of the verses in Scripture that I memorized as a child
have to do with this word. In Joshua 1:8 we read "Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it
day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in
it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." The same thought is found in Psalm 1:3 - "He (the Blessed man and woman) is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit
in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers."
God is good to us, his loved ones. He is good to us, not because we are
"good people" but because He is Good. So it is that he wants us to dwell
and meditate on Him every day and night of the year. In our relationship
to Him we will learn the true meaning of prosperity and success.
With
that in mind, may you and I spend much of the year 2010 investing in getting
to know God better than ever before. May our joy and meaningfulness flow
out of "knowing Him and making Him known".
