Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Thank you very much for your prayers and encouragement in support for our ministry. There are many things happening ministry wise and I have let them accumulate without reporting to you about them.
1. I have been teaching a class on Monday nights here in Miami to students from FLET and from MINTS (Miami International Seminary). I have had 21 students for the last 9 weeks in a course on Introduction to Counseling in Spanish. It has been received very well and I find it very rewarding to get the student feedback as I teach (which is not always as visible in our FLET distance education). Teaching on the liberating doctrines of Grace is constantly met by renewal and brokenness in our classes. I get lifted up by the power of the gospel every time.
2. Robyn and I had the privilege of speaking to 35 couples at a bilingual retreat of the Granada Presbyterian Church here in Miami three weeks ago. This was also very exciting, because it took us back to the ministry with couples that she and I did together in Chile. We had to translate into English much of the material we had prepared, and look for romantic songs in English to go with our topics. You can see that I am now a Chilean missionary trying to understand the American "natives" and their culture.
3. Tomorrow, Monday, I fly to San Salvador to teach a FLET intensive 18 hour pastoral psychology course. I will teach every night for three hours as well as on Saturday morning. I ask you for your prayers for safety, strength, and freshness in integrating the material in such a way that the power of the gospel will be clear and "provoking". These national pastors and leaders need encouragement in their ministry as well as skills to deal with their flocks. Of course, I feel that I am the one that most grows with these classes
4. I have included Susana's report on her trip to Spain as an attachment to this file. She came back very excited and is talking about possibly going back next year and leading a group from Covenant College.
Thank you so very much again for your partnership in ministry
