Ramiro and María Araujo have served the Ecuadorian church for over 17 years alongside MTW's church planting ministries in Quito, Ecuador. Coming to know the Lord as an adult, Ramiro was mentored by MTW missionaries and, by God's grace, planted one of the country's first Reformed congregations in a poor neighborhood of Quito. Later, mission and church leaders encouraged Ramiro to pursue a master's of divinity degree at Reformed Seminary in Jackson, MS, which he completed in 1997. While studying in the United States, Ramiro felt a deep concern for the Quichua people of his home country of Ecuador. Upon his graduation, Ramiro served five years as pastor of San Marcos Presbyterian Church in Quito.
Since 2003, Ramiro has served as the director of MTW's Quichua Training Center in Quito. Currently his ministries include directing a Bible institute for training Quichua leaders in the Bolivar province, as well as mentoring and training Quichua leaders in Quito and surrounding areas. In addition to his labors among the Quichua, Ramiro plays a strategic role in the strengthening and development of the Spanish-speaking Reformed and Presbyterian churches of Ecuador - serving in key ministries at both the local and denominational levels.
Ramiro and María have two high-school-aged children, Milagros (7/17/90) and Samuel (9/8/92). María, born in Quito, came to know the Lord in 1978. In addition to her ministry to her family, she is active in discipling and counseling women.
Please pray for the Araujo family and their ministry to strengthen churches and train a future generation of Christian leaders for Ecuador! Correspond with Ramiro and María by e-mail: raraujo@mtwla.org.
