"Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." I Thessalonians 5:16-18

Dear Praying Friends,

We are encouraged in the Word to rejoice, pray and give thanks. In this season of Thanksgiving we are reminded again of these things, and are happy to do them because of God's great love with which He has loved us! We hope that you are well, and are also encouraged by God's love for you, even in the midst of difficulty or pleasure.

We want to share some updates from our previous letter. First, thank you for praying for Carlos, the elder at San Pablo church. He is well. Second, we did meet with the Quichua church, Sembradores, and were invited to speak on a Sunday. The Sunday meeting went very well, and they are excited about beginning a micro-finance ministry with an emphasis on outreach. Third, the meetings of the Guayaquil Church Planting Committee went well, and we see some good potential in the three churches working more closely together. The pastors seem encouraged. Fourth, Wendy and her former roommate are learning to be friends again! We thank God for bringing the beginnings of restoration.

Since we last wrote, we also had the great privilege of attending the Latin America Retreat in Panama. We were greatly blessed by the preaching of Joseph Wheat and Paul Kooistra. It was also wonderful to be with other missionaries to Latin America who we love, but rarely get to see. We are thankful that God provided all the necessary resources for us to attend.

The first few days of November our Ecuador team met for meetings and fellowship. It was a great meeting of missionaries and national partners, including team members from the US (MTW folks), Canada (the Jonkmans who are affiliated with us here), Hispanic team members, and Quichua team members- a meeting of the minds and also of the cultures. Please pray for us as we work together under a common vision to accomplish our varied goals as a team. Pray for good understanding and appreciation of one another. For some, it was the first time they had met face to face, and all had a chance to share some of who they are, and how we can pray for one another.

Please pray for two meetings we have coming up. On Thursday night we will meet with the elders and deacons from La Gracia church, where we attend. Then, next Tuesday afternoon we will meet the leadership of another Quichua church. Pray that we would be clear, and that the Lord would be using all of these meetings. We have heard positive responses from all the churches with whom we have met, and are now trying to schedule meetings for the next steps, orientations and trainings. Pray for wisdom and good administration!

Also, Mike has a new job! Remember that treasurer job that made Robin a little crazy when we were in Guayaquil? We have a really great Ecuadorian Christian accountant now, and the treasurer job is much improved. The team had asked Robin to consider taking on the job again, and she was thinking about it. However, we decided that it would be better for all concerned if Mike took the job! The team is happy, and our team leader who was "standing in" as treasurer was really glad. Pray for Mike as he faithfully fulfills his duty in this position.

Whitney and Waverly did great on their first quarter report cards. We are really please with them. Whitney's play opens for the parents this Wednesday, and continues Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They will have 6 performances all together. Waverly continues in soccer, and scored her first goal last Thursday. Yea!

Please continue to pray for our kids in the States. They are doing well, but we miss seeing them. Wendy is having a good semester, and we look forward to seeing her here in mid-December. William and Amanda are also doing well. Please pray for them as Amanda's mom and grandmother are both being treated for cancer. Will and Amanda have been able to make trips to Chicago to see them.

We are so thankful for your on-going prayer and financial support. Without it we could not be here! We are very thankful for a good month of support in October, but are still a bit short in our monthly support. Please pray that God would continue to provide all that is necessary for us to be here. The opportunities are opening up for more ministry and we are grateful to be a part of sharing the gospel in both word and deed.

We pray that you have a joyous thanksgiving season with your family and friends. Please let us know how we can pray for you.

Blessings in Jesus,
Mike and Robin (and Whitney and Waverly) McMahan
