News for Friends, Family, and Partners June 10, 2006 Dear Praying Friends, And without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb; yet with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief, but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what He had promised, He was able to perform. Romans 4:19-21 These words have come to mean much to us. We find that in the pursuit our God-given goals, we can become discouraged. Yet, when we read these words, and remember that God is in control, and His timing is not our timing, we are encouraged to press on, giving Him glory at every opportunity. Will you join us in praying with assurance for our soon return to Ecuador? We are very encouraged by new support from both individuals and churches. With a number of new commitments, our support stands at near 88%! Several churches are still making decisions, and a few individuals have indicated a desire to support as well. We have a strong desire to be in Ecuador before the first summer teams arrive there on July 1. We are preparing ourselves and pursuing our Ecuadorian visas in faith. Pray that God would move in the hearts of those who He would have support us. If you feel led to participate with us financially, please let us know by email, and we will get you set up. The Home Front In 8 days, William will be married in Lookout Mountain, GA to Amanda Witvoet. Please pray for us and them as we all prepare for the wedding. As you can imagine, there is much to do. Pray that God would be honored in the preparations as well as in the wedding. Pray for this young couple as they begin their life together, that they would always be seeking the Lord for direction. As many of you know, Mike's sister, Brenda had a serious stroke on May 7. We give thanks to God for her improvement, and continue to pray for healing. She is currently in a rehabilitation hospital, but will leave the hospital on June 15th, and will be able to join the rest of the family at William's wedding. When she returns to Fort Worth, she will join a day program for people with brain injuries, with a long term goal of returning to work. Please continue to pray for Brenda and her family. Wendy is spending the summer in Austin, TX with Mike's other sister, Debbie. She is lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons, as well as helping out occasionally in Uncle Mark's doctors office. She has found a church to attend, and is getting lots of work opportunities. Please pray for her as she is separated from the rest of us. We miss her, but wanted her to have family support when we leave for Ecuador. Whitney and Waverly are enjoying moments with their friends here in the US. We recently visited Salisbury, MD, where they got to spend some time with a few of their old friends. They are also spending lots of time with friends here in Carrollton. School friends gave them a nice going away party at school, and church friends plan to give them a going away party the week after William's wedding. Pray for their ability to "leave well" as well as for their ability to adapt to a new place in Ecuador. One last prayer request! We have hardly packed anything yet! Please pray for wisdom in packing since all of our belongings will probably not arrive with us at the same time...We have been delaying on this somewhat because it is hard. Also, there is still some uncertainty regarding when we will actually leave. Also, you may wonder where we stand with regard to a trip to Kenya for training this summer...We think that we need about $5,000 in one-time support to be able to go. We are very thankful to those of you who have given extra toward our one-time expenses. We are waiting on the Lord to see if the timing is right for this summer. Thank you all for your many prayer and financial gifts to us. We are honored, and receive them as from the Lord, knowing that you give them as to the Lord. May God be magnified in each of our lives! We pray God's richest blessing on you all. In Christ's Service, Mike and Robin McMahan
