The McMahan Update
News for Friends, Family, and Partners
July 12, 2006

Dear Praying Friends,

Thanks so much for praying so faithfully for us! We are rejoicing to have commitments for 98% of our support! Mike just returned from another quick trip to Florida with the good news of another new supporting church. We are thankful to have a "hub" of four supporting churches in Florida. We are also thankful that we received our Ecuadorian visas in the mail this week!

What Now?
We just booked our tickets for the 24th of July, but we really need to raise a bit more money before we can leave. We need about $200 more in monthly commitments, and about $4000 more in one time support. Please let us know if you think you or your church can help us with this need.

We also need to finish packing, and figure out how everything will get to Ecuador. We do not ship our goods because it is very difficult to get them out of customs. This means that everything we take must go with us on the plane. We are very thankful that a number of our trunks are already in Ecuador (or will soon be in transit), carried by willing folks on summer work teams. However, we still have a number of trunks that need to go. Please pray that we will find willing folks to help us get our things to Quito!

What's going on in Ecuador Right Now?
July 1-8 a combined work team from Lake Worth, FL and Statesboro, GA did a construction project and vacation Bible school with the Nueva Vida (New Life) church. This is a Quichua church, but the 100+ kids who attended were a combination of Quichua, mestizo (Hispanic Ecuadorians), and black Ecuadorians. We heard from the work team that they had a great time, and worked hard. A team member said that it was great to see God bring order out of chaos! What a great God we have. Please pray for the follow-up for this group.

While that team was in Quito another team from Enterprise, Alabama was in Guayaquil starting a home for our good friend Daniel Hernandez, one of our pastoral candidates from Rose of Sharon church. They also did a VBS at Betania church, a Quichua Presbyterian church just outside of Guayaquil. Sounds like they had a great week.

Our team is also busily preparing for a group from Sarasota, FL that will arrive this Saturday. They will be working with a mestizo church called Palabra Viva (Living Word). Please pray for all involved.

Prayer Requests

  • The last 2% in monthly support
  • An additional $4000 in one time support
  • Wisdom and Peace in packing
  • All those last minute details that just have to be done
  • Peace in leaving two of our children (okay, three when you include Amanda!) in the US, while we go to Ecuador
  • That God would prepare relationships for all of us
  • That God would provide a house for us in the neighborhood near Alliance Academy

Again, thank you so much for partnering with us in the work in Ecuador. We are so thankful for God's faithfulness in growing us, and preparing us to begin anew in Quito.

In Christ's Service,

Mike and Robin McMahan
