Dear Praying Friends,

We wanted to ask you to pray for us as we head back to Lima tomorrow [2/20]. We have had a blessed two months in the US visiting with many of you and bringing folks up to date on the work in Peru. Thank you to so many of you who hosted us and just generally loved on us during this time. Our family has been especially precious to us, and we treasure the times we've had with them.

Over the past two months we have had great visits to:

Marissa Presbyterian Church in Marissa, IL
  • New City Fellowship in St. Louis, MO
  • The Church at West Cobb in Atlanta, GA
  • Christ Community Church in Franklin, TN
  • Catalina Foothills Church in Tucson, AZ
  • City Church in East Nashville, TN

We didn't get to visit our friends at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in St Louis, but we did get to meet with our friend and missions chairman there Ron Youngclaus, which was great. Hopefully we can visit with the whole church next time.

Speaking of next time, our plan is to come back every other year for the kids' summer break (Christmas to the end of February), visiting half our churches each time so that we get to see you at least once every four years. We weren't sure how this was going to work out as this is the first time we have done this, but I think it worked pretty well, though it has been a very busy 8 weeks, that's for sure.

In that time we've had the privilege of making new friends, reconnecting with old friends, and being hosted by many of you so generously and kindly. Thank you to everyone who made our time here so blessed. We return to Lima encouraged and more appreciative than ever of the covering of prayer and support that we carry there from you, by God's grace. We also are keenly aware that our church in Lima, Iglesia Presbiteriana "Luz de Vida" has been praying for us constantly, and for many of you too, and that together ("juntos" :-)) we share the great privilege of working for the advance of the great Kingdom of our Lord Jesus in Peru. What an honor and a privilege!!

Please know that we wanted to get with many more of you than we were able to, but we just ran out of time. We are really sorry for that, and apologize to many of you who invited us to do something or who expressed a desire to get together and it didn't work out. Please know that we tried but just ran out of time to contact everyone. We deeply appreciate you pursuing us and your love for our family and support for the ministry, and trust that God will give us that time we missed the next time we're in the US or when some of you come down to see us on work teams.

Some great news for those of you who we haven't had a chance to tell in person: Lori is pregnant and is due July 29! We are thrilled. She's in her second trimester and doing very well.

As you think of us, we'd ask that you please pray for the Lord to give us:

  1. Peace as we pack and say last minute goodbyes.
  2. Peace as we reconnect in Peru.
  3. Wisdom as we wade back into the ministry.
  4. Endurance, as the weeks ahead are going to be extremely busy.

Please also pray for:

  1. Mark as he prepares to preach on Sunday.
  2. The Ward family as they transition to the field as career missionaries. They will be traveling with us and staying with us until they get their kids in school and find a house.
  3. Becca Bennett who finishes her two year term this week and returns to the US on Friday.
  4. Emmett, Anna, Taylor and now Abigail as they start back to school on March 3.
  5. Mark as he travels back to the US for a missions conference in Suffolk, VA February 27-March 3, and then to Santiago, Chile for an MTW Latin American Leadership Conference March 4-8. He'll be ten days on the road, so pray for him and Lori and the kids during that long time apart.
  6. Mark as he preaches March 9.
  7. Our church, Iglesia Presbiteriana "Luz de Vida"
  8. Lori's health and the baby's.

Please stay in touch with us and let us know how we can pray for you.

We love you very much.

In Christ,

Mark and Lori
Emmett, Anna, Taylor, Abigail and #5
