Update
November 21, 2007

Dear Praying Friends,

Warmest greetings to each of you from the Berry family here in Lima! We hope and trust that you are well in the Lord. We will be in the US from December 17, 2007 to February 20, 2008 on a short home assignment to visit many of you, report on the ministry and speak in many of our supporting churches. Please let us know if you would like to get together or have us do anything for you or your church while we are there. We're putting together our schedule over the next few weeks and would like very much to see as many of you as we can. For this month, we'd like to update you on our ministry and share with you answers to prayer and needs that you can continue to lift up to the Lord. Here are some items for praise and prayer:

Praise

  1. MTW Disaster Relief Ministry has received over $40,000 in donations for ongoing relief efforts in areas south of Lima affected by the earthquake in August.
  2. We received 6 more people as new members into Luz de Vida (Light of Life) Presbyterian Church earlier this month, and have 6 more attending our current new members' class.
  3. God provided a wonderful apartment in Salamanca for the Salvatierra family, our new two year missionary family! They are almost totally set up and Michael has begun getting involved with our worship and youth ministries.
  4. Taylor had her 7th birthday in October.
  5. God provided a job for Eliseo and for Enrique, two of the four men you prayed for last month!
  6. For those who were sick last month in our church and mission who are now well or much better: Enrique, Basilia, Elsa, Robinson, Nelson, Gloria.
  7. Anabel is a new believer who came to Christ and who you prayed for last month for her growth. She has been attending church regularly!
  8. For a wonderful time in Normandy with Mark's parents, and for watch care over all our travels and over the kids.
  9. For giving us 11 years of marriage, growing and teaching us in profound ways through God's tremendous gift of marriage. Our anniversary was November 9th.
Prayer
  1. Please continue to pray for wisdom in the administration of the Disaster Relief funds on behalf of those in need south of Lima and the possible deployment of additional personnel in these areas for a more extended period of time to oversee the work.
  2. Please pray for Luis Alberto, the man I told you about last time who received Christ with our evangelism team. We haven't been able to make contact with him since and he has not come to church. I'll repeat what I asked you to pray last time: that "he'll be in church Sunday, and for reconciliation with his wife, which is currently the most difficult situation in his life. They are separated and have been through a lot. There is a lot of healing that needs to take place. Please pray for that too. Her name is Sabina."
  3. Please continue to pray for Mark's preaching and teaching and leadership in the church plant and of our missionary team.
  4. Please pray for our marriage and family.
  5. Please pray for Jeremy and Amanda Ross, that God would form a team of Peruvians around them and use them to minister the love of Christ to street children on behalf of our team and church plant.
  6. Please pray for jobs for Robinson and Carlos, two men in our church who need work to provide for their families.
  7. Please continue to pray for Jim and Sara Ward, career missionaries raising support, that they will be able to get all their support raised in the next two months to be able to be here in January 2008 to get their kids in school for the new year that begins the first week of March.
  8. Please pray for these folks who are sick with various types of ailments: Maximina, Cirila and Janet.
  9. Please pray for these folks who have recently become Christians, for their growth in grace and protection from the schemes of the enemy: Lilian, Lucho, Cirila, Luis Alberto, Anabel.
  10. Please pray for our upcoming home assignment Dec. 16-Feb. 20, that the Lord would arrange our stateside schedule and help us put things in order here before we have to go.
  11. Please pray for Mark's Mom Sally who has fallen several times recently, though without serious injury thanks to the Lord. Pray that whatever is causing these falls would be healed.
  12. Please pray for Lori's discipleship of women on our team and in the church, as well as in her responsibilities as a wife and mother of 4 bundles of energy.

May the Lord richly bless each of you. Let us know how we can pray for you as well. Thank you again for your faithful support in prayer. You are the backbone of our ministry. We are looking forward to seeing you, Lord willing, in February when we come to your missions' conference.

In Christ,

Mark for Lori and the children
