Dear Friends,
We trust this letter finds you each well. We appreciate your praying for us
again this month.
Here are some items for praise to the Lord, answers to prayer, as well as
some petitions.
Praise
- For the Lord’s helping Mark to finish our ministry plan and budget
for this year.
- For core group meetings in Salamanca that began on January 10.
The Lord has blessed these times of prayer, planning and vision casting for
the new church plant.
- For Mark’s meetings with the Session of the Huaycán church to
formalize our relationship
- For a great visit from our friend Todd Fizer from New City
Fellowship in St Louis.
- For the spiritual growth we are seeing among new believers in our
Thursday small group in Salamanca.
- For the Ross family’s arrival to Lima from language school on Feb.
1 to start work with children at risk
- For multiple baptisms and first communions taking place on
February 4 in Santa Anita of adults and children, including our own Emmett
and Anna who will be taking the Lord’s supper for the first time.
- For Mark’s sister Ashley coming to visit Feb. 18-Mar. 4. We’ll be
taking those two weeks off so we can spend time with Ashley and do some
tourism with her.
Prayer
- For Felipe Hervias, new believer in Salamanca with special needs.
- For Maria, single mom in Salamanca with two children, Yessica (13)
and Moises (10), who needs your prayers for spiritual growth and for healing
in her family, as well as physical needs of a job, a place to live, and
basic items for a home.
- For Mark’s meetings with the Huaycán session each Tuesday night,
working over the next 6 months to put together a formal church planting
partnership that is well thought out, culturally sensitive and effective.
- For Mark’s meetings with the core group in Salamanca, each
Wednesday night. We are praying for this group to grow in size and unity
around a healthy biblical vision that Mark is seeking to train them in.
- For the evangelism clinic in Urubamba (mountains, Cuzco area) Feb.
12-16. 15 pastors and leaders are signed up and Mark will be sharing the
teaching with another pastor, Fabio Padilla, from the 4 Square Church in
Lima. From our churches here in Lima, 4 leaders will be going to serve as
trainers: Enrique, Adrián, Fabián and Lucy.
- For the Cristo Salvador feeding/tutoring program. The children’s
names, from left to right in the pictures below are: Alexandra Quiros, Juan
Tinco, Daniel Ramos, Marcos Ramos, Diego Quiros, Joel Quiros and Jasmin
Quispe. Jean Lucas is not pictured. Guillermo (on the left at the table)
is the pastoral intern responsible for the day to day activities and
oversight of the children, and Reyna tends to the special needs that exist
with the kids and their families. Becca is our missionary overseeing the
kids’ health. Please pray for each one.
- For Lori as she serves on the oversight committee for the project,
responsible for evaluating and improving it.
- For Elizabeth Clemente in Huaycán, who was run over by a truck a
few weeks ago and is disabled with 5 kids and a husband who has recently
abandoned her. The church is providing food for her and her family, and two
of her boys are already in the Cristo Salvador project. Pray for her
recovery, spirits, and for justice to be done on her behalf such that the
owner of the vehicle, whose neglect caused the accident, would pay for her
medical bills, lost work time and damages.
- For wisdom constantly in all the decisions and pastoral situations
we face daily
- For protection for our marriage and family from Satan’s schemes.
- For physical protection for us and all God’s people in this city of
many dangers.
- For the joy of the Lord to be our strength daily.
Thank you for praying with us for these things this month. Your prayers are
a source of tremendous encouragement and strength.
With much love in Christ,
Mark for all
