Dear Praying Friends and Family,

Warm greetings in the name of Jesus to each of you! I hope you and your families are well in the Lord. Thank you for taking this time this month to pray for us and our ministry here in Lima.

Here are a few things to give thanks for and to be praying for:

1. Melba, daughter in law of our landlord, became a Christian last Saturday! We had a divine appointment with her while having lunch at our landlord’s, and she entered the Kingdom of light! Pray for her husband Martin to also come to faith, as well as their two small children, Lorenzo and Kathy.

2. Mark began a new believers Bible study two weeks ago in Salamanca that will meet every Thursday at 7pm for the next several months. In attendance are new believers from Salamanca as well as more mature Christians who will are training to become the future leaders of similar new believers’ groups for the church’s ongoing discipleship ministry. We are so very pleased at the number of new conversions the Lord is giving, it’s really incredible. With this comes a great responsibility to faithfully disciple each one, and so we would ask that you pray for wisdom and grace to love these new brothers and sisters well and impart to them a solid foundation in the faith.

3. Our kids finish their school year this week. Praise the Lord for seeing us and them through the transition from home schooling in 2005 to a new structure, schedule and language in their schooling for 2006. It has been a challenging year in that regard, and we are thankful for how the Lord has helped the kids adjust and re-acclimate. We also give thanks for the La Molina Christian School where they attend and for the blessing it has been in their lives with faithful, loving Christian teachers reinforcing to them the principles and values we are teaching them at home.

4. Pray for the work Mark is doing on our 2007 ministry plan and budget, which needs to be finished by Dec. 20. Pray for the wisdom of the Spirit and that the Lord would “build the house” (Ps. 127:1) Related to this, Mark is working with the Huaycán session to set up a better structure for overseeing and evaluating our joint church planting work, and needs your prayers that the Lord would give them one mind and a good working relationship which would produce a more fruitful and effective model for both planting churches and training church planters.

5. Pray that in each church and church plant: Salamanca, Huaycán, Amauta and Santa Anita, we would be active showing compassion to the poor. We will be serving hot chocolate and providing Christmas gifts of clothing and toys to probably close to 250 people in these communities this Christmas. Pray that in these ministries the love of Christ would be experienced in a powerful way by those who receive.

6. Please pray for Jim and Sara Ward, career missionaries raising support to join us in Lima. They have 40% of their monthly support and we need them here as soon as possible. So please pray that remaining 60% in for them, won’t you?

7. Jeremy and Amanda Ross are finishing language school in January and will be here in February. We praise God that he has led us to a great house for them to rent and for the much needed help that they will bring when they soon get to Lima. Also praise God for giving them a good base in Spanish through their studies.

8. Pray for Lori’s women’s Bible study in Santa Anita, meeting the fourth Saturday of each month. Pray for the Lord to empower and bless her ministry to the women in that community and church.

9. Pray for daily filling with the Holy Spirit so that we might live and minister in fullness of love, joy, peace, power and freedom—to the glory of our great Father and King Jesus who makes it all possible:-)

We thank you so much for your prayers this month and always. May the Lord continue to knit us together through prayer so that the work of the Kingdom might go forward powerfully in Lima and in your communities as well. And may the Lord richly bless you and your families this Christmas season!

In Christ,

Mark and Lori Berry
