Dear Prayer Team,
Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ our great hope!
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support of the work in Lima. Here
are a few things you can be praying about this month:
Praise:
- Independent Pres (Memphis) medical team came the last week of
January and cared for a lot of patients in both Santa Anita and Huaycan,
through the local churches there. They attended the kids in the Cristo
Salvador feeding program in Huaycan, providing funds for an important
operation for one of the handicapped boys in the program named Ronald, as
well as special needs of other members of the congregations.
- We had a great visit with our friends at the Church at West Cobb in
Marietta, Georgia the last week in January. It was a great encouragement to
spend time with Pastor Tom Gray and his family, have a chance to update them
on the ministry and plan with them their one week visit to Lima this summer.
- Encouraging times visiting with supporters, friends and family in
middle Tennessee and at our home church Christ Community in Franklin,
Tennessee. We've shared with the missions committee and Mark spoke at an
adult SS class last Sunday.
Prayer:
- Andrew and Frank as they hold down the fort in Lima. Specifically:
- Missions trip to Aoti, Peru (jungle) Feb 27-Mar 5. Andrew and
Frank, with Adrian, will be taking youth from the Huaycan church to Aoti to
work with pastors, leaders, youth and children in that village, doing a
conference for the adults, the youth and a VBS for the kids. It is to be a
training and discipleship for the youth from Huaycan that Andrew has been
working with, as well as an opportunity for our team to connect with leaders
and pastors in the jungle who are part of a movement of new churches in that
area. Please pray for spiritual growth for the youth and for our team to be
used to foster and encourage the church planting movement in this jungle
region of Peru. Pray for Frank, Adrian and Andrew as they teach.
- EE training begins today (Feb 16) and tomorrow (Feb 17) in Santa
Anita and Huaycan, respectively. Andrew and Adrian will be teaching, and
several of the members who graduated last year from EE will be serving as
trainers for the first time. Please pray for Andrew and Adrian as they
teach and for the new trainers to grow and mature in their faith as the put
into practice what they have learned.
- The growth and maturity of the Cristo Salvador diaconal ministry at
Huaycan. Pray for Reyna and Andrew and the team of members at Huaycan who
are leading the ministry. Pray also for the spiritual, physical and
emotional growth of the children as well: Ronald, Nadine, Pool (Paul),
Abel, Janeth, Daniel, Yomira
- The growth and maturity of the Santa Anita church plant (Cristo
Redentor-Christ Redeemer). Pray for Adrian's leadership and for Frank as he
supports him.
- Please pray against the spiritual forces of darkness and evil
opposing the expansion of the Kingdom and Word of God in Lima and Peru.
- Please pray for the physical protection of our team members and
national coworkers in Lima. Specifically, please pray for David, the 8 year
old son of our national church planting pastor Adrian and his wife Reyna.
David has been very sick with a virus that has caused his throat to be very
sore and swollen, leading to great difficulty eating and drinking. Doctors
are having a hard time diagnosing his condition and he has been in and out
of the hospital in the past several weeks.
- Our health. We have been struggling for 6 weeks with various
sicknesses like flu, stomach viruses, bronchitis, ear infections in which
every member of our family has been ill. Please pray for the Lord to make
us fully well, especially for our upcoming trip to Florida.
- Our family as we travel to West Boca Raton, Florida for a missions
conference with our dear friends at West Boca Presbyterian. We are all
making the trip. Pray for the Lord to bless the conference and our ministry
there.
- For Mark and Anna as they travel to Oklahoma City for a missions
conference at Heritage Pres in Edmond, Feb 25-27. Again, pray for safe
travel, good father-daughter time and for the Lord to bless our ministry in
Edmond among our brothers and sisters at Heritage.
Thank you for your faithfulness to pray for us and for the work in Lima.
Most affectionately yours in Christ,
Mark for all
