Update
June 9, 2004

Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

It's late fall in Lima, rainy, drizzly, in the 50-60's. We don't see the sun much anymore, and won't for the next 5 months or so:( But its all right, because Jesus is on the move and rain or shine, that's more fun than a sun soaked beach chair in Destin! Right?!:))

Will you be partnering with us in prayer this month of June for the establishment of the gospel message and the advancement of the Kingdom of Christ here in Lima and Peru? You are crucial to all we are about here, and we covet your prayers. Thank you in advance!!!

Here are a few things to be praying for:

1. Christ Centered Preaching and Worship Conference, this Friday and Saturday June 11-12. We're putting on a leadership training conference this weekend for which we would covet your prayers. This is the first conference of this type we have done here in Lima, and we hope to do one once a quarter. It is for the church planters with whom we work, as well as for the wider body of Christ in the city. Our goal is with each training to be discipling believers in the doctrines of grace as applied to different areas of ministry, this time preaching, teaching and worship. Please pray that God would have his hand on this event to bless it, and that seed for revival in Lima would be planted in the hearts of many leaders and future leaders of His church here.

2. Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church work team arrives Saturday night June 12 and will be working with us all next week doing construction to finish the second floor for Jesus el Buen Pastor Presbyterian church in Huaycan. The second floor is to serve as a ministry center for handicapped and extremely poor children whose families need help providing for the needs of their children. Please pray for this work group as they help put on the roof to the second floor. Pray that God would call some in this group to serve full time on the mission field. We need more laborers, as the harvest is indeed white!

3. Evangelism Explosion training in Huaycan and San Juan de Lurigancho, Tuesday and Thursday nights. Please continue praying for Julie, Andrew and me as trainers, and for me as I teach the class. The Lord has given us much fruit in both places, and our students are responding well. Please continue to pray for them, that the Lord would equip them to be both soul winners and trainers of other soul winners, so that within both these churches we might see a significant harvest and multiplication of harvesters, feeding in the end a church planting movement in the city.

4. Women's Bible study with Pilar, Elisabeth and Marta. Julie is teaching this with Lori. It is in our neigborhood of Salamanca. All three ladies are Catholic but open to study the Scriptures. Pray for the Lord of the harvest to draw them to himself using Lori and Julie and this study.

Those are the big things to pray for right now. As always, please pray for me as Dad, pastor, missionary, husband, that I would fulfill my multiple callings with much wisdom, grace and love. Likewise for Lori as Mom to 4 and wife and missionary. We are in constant need of your prayers, and we do thank you for your faithful friendship in the Lord.

Much love in Him,

Mark
