"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions
with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always
keep on praying for all the saints. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my
mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery
of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare
it fearlessly, as I should." - Ephesians 6:18-20May 23, 2002 The Word of the Lord...
My Privilege...
Thank
you all SO MUCH for your prayers this past week! God has made clear to me where
I am to spend the next step of my term here in Peru !!
My Opportunity...
I
have been given an opportunity to serve in Cuzco, Peru in a number of the
following areas:
YOUR Response...
I
have received so much encouragement and reassurance of prayers this past week!
I have no doubt I will move on to Cuzco with a strong team praying behind me.
How could I possibly go alone?
The Next Steps...
I will be packing up my belongings and putting them in a truck on Friday, May 31st.
The truck will head out that day with a trusted Peruvian friend on board. It
will take the truck at least 24 hours of driving to arrive in Cuzco, winding
through the Andes Mountains!! Please pray for their safety in travel, and for the safety of my belongings.
I
will board a plane on Saturday, June 1st for a one hour flight to
Cuzco.... with my 4 month old kitten given to me by a friend at our church.
Yikes!! Need I say more? I'm sure we will BOTH spend the first week in Cuzco
recovering from HER trauma of her first jet ride. Please pray for me as I pull
up roots here in Lima and make yet another transition.
Please
pray for the 8 female interns that I will be living with for my first two
months in Cuzco. Pray for our relationships and that God will use us in one
another's lives, even as we are all adjusting to changes and close living
quarters. Pray that we will find great joy in the Lord and great joy in one
another!
I
will be saying my "goodbyes" all along the way this next week. The hardest
goodbyes will be with the children at Manuel Correa. We are to have a despedida,
or going away party, on Wednesday night. Please pray for good closure with all
to whom I have become close during my 6 months in Lima.
Please
also pray Deuteronomy 31:8 for me: "The Lord himself goes before you
and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be
afraid; do not be discouraged."
I
will also ask you to pray this Scripture for me, Colossians 1:9-14. One
of my favorite ways to pray for people is to pray Scripture back to God,
inserting their names and making it personal:
"For this reason (for
the reason, read the preceding verses!), since the day we heard about
Laura, we have not stopped praying for her and asking you, Lord, to fill her
with the knowledge of your will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.
And we pray this in order that she may live a life worthy of you and may please
you in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of
you, being strengthened with all power according to your glorious might so that
she may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to you,
Father, who has qualified her to share in the inheritance of the saints in the
kingdom of light. For you have rescued her from the dominion of darkness and
brought her into the kingdom of the Son whom you love, in whom we have
redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
THANK
YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND ENCOURAGEMENT!!
I
will keep you posted on how things are progressing!! Again, please feel free to
write me directly with any questions or encouragements!!
Please
also note the change of address and telephone number for the time being, as
well as the web site for some information on the team in Cuzco:
