Belize Update
December 1, 2007

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!”

How merciful is our God. I am continually reminded of my Father’s grace and mercy in my life. How undeserving I am of His love and affection, but how generously He bestows it on me. He is committed to me, even when I stray. When I am weak, He carries me. Great is His faithfulness!

School is coming to a close. We have just two weeks of classes remaining before we take our holidays. It is incredible how fast this year has gone by, and it is so hard for me to believe that it is already Christmas time. Teaching is going wonderfully. We are reading the book “The Hiding Place” in my first form classes as we study the continent of Europe. We studied this book last year as well, but I continue to learn so much this year as I read through the book for the fifth time. I am convicted by the love that the individuals in this book have for their enemies, as well as the courage that they have to share Christ’s message. It is encouraging for me also to see this book have impact on the students’ lives. Many of them are beginning to realize how important it is to not be self-centered individuals and to change our focus from ourselves to others around us with needs.

I am also encouraged by other students at the school who are standing up for what they believe. At the end of October we celebrated Reformation Day by watching the movie “Luther.” After the movie there was a great amount of discussion about the selling of indulgences and the Catholic Church at the time of the Reformation. A good many of our students are Roman Catholic, and the event held at school for Reformation Day triggered a bit of discussion within one particular local Catholic church. This discussion has been challenging and stretching, and there are several students really digging into the Word to find the truth in the midst of everything. Pray for these that are seeking truth that as truth is revealed to them they will be willing to take a stand for that truth.

I mentioned in my last email about the struggles I was having with particular second form students. Many of those relationships have been repaired, and I was even able to have a group of the girls over one night to spend the night. Satan, however, is seeking out students for himself. He is strong, but God is stronger. It breaks my heart to see some of these students straying from the path they know is right and openly seeking after the devil and his pleasures. The past few days have been rough, and I struggle with feelings of disappointment. Yet, our God is sovereign, and His perfect plan will be accomplished in these students’ lives.

I will be concluding my Bible study on the book of John with Dora, Enrique and Gloria within the next two weeks. Thursday night, when we were having study, we were discussing how much we have all grown since this study began. I am proud of all three of them for sticking with this study even when other things begged for their time. We will, Lord willing, be completing John before Christmas and then beginning another book of the Bible after the break.

The ladies Bible study I am in on the book of James has been convicting. It has been a great study. We are still on the first chapter of James, and I already feel convicted on so many different things. I have enjoyed studying this particular book of the Bible and really digging into the passages. This Bible study consists of both Belizean and America women and is a neat combination of ladies. Everyone has been really open and willing to share and pray for one another.

I will be coming home to the states over the Christmas break. School gets out the 14th of December and then I will be flying back on the 16th of December. I am so excited to be able to spend Christmas break with my family and friends. I definitely miss family and time with friends. It is amazing to me how much I took for granted my family and my friends back home. It is a challenge to be away from them. It will be great to be home for the holidays. I will be home until the 2nd of January and would love to see as many of you as possible. I look forward to being at Trinity and back in English services. Oh how I miss those. ☺

Thank you for your interest and passion in what is going on in Belize. God is doing great things and continues to work out His eternal purpose. I covet your prayers each day for both the students, Belize as a country and also for me.

In Him,

Julie Williams
