Belize Update
August 6, 2007
Dear Friends, Family and Supporters,
This past month God has continued to show me how I can plan and organize,
but ultimately it is God who directs my steps. He continually reminds me
that He is in control and that His plan is far more wonderful than my own.
The month back in the states has been very refreshing. After being away from
my family it was great to be back with them again. It is very rare anymore
that all seven of us are together at the same time, so my parents definitely
took advantage of this while I was home. We did many family dinners and game
nights and just enjoyed spending time as a family. I was reminded of how
blessed I am with a solid family that is seeking after Christ.
I was also able to catch up with old friends. It is humbling to see how they
all manage to survive without me. :) Many of my close friends are getting
married or now expecting children. It makes me wonder where time goes.
One of my main tasks while home was to complete support raising for an
additional year in Belize. I was confident that it was God’s will for me to
be back in Belize and that He would, in His timing, provide the support that
I needed. While the support raising process can often be very exhausting, I
found it to be extremely encouraging. I met with many different churches and
really saw the body of Christ at work. I was so uplifted by seeing the
passion that Christians have for missions and their desire to hear about
God’s work in other countries. I am so blessed with prayer warriors who lift
me up daily to our Lord. I learned that there are so many people praying for
me that have never even met me before. Every church that I spoke at welcomed
me with open arms and made me feel like I was really apart of their church
body. Visiting these churches and meeting with individuals was like water to
my weary soul. Every time I left a church after speaking or left a family’s
home after sharing, I felt renewed and uplifted. Thank you to those of you
who did host me in your church or at your home. I will forever treasure the
relationships that were strengthened or newly built during our meeting!
Through these many church and in home meetings God did provide the support I
needed to return to the mission field in Belize. I was humbled by the
generosity of churches and individuals who have made sacrifices in order for
me to return to the mission field. This whole experience has shown me over
and over again that our God will never leave us nor forsake us. We are His
children, and He will provide for our needs.
With my support being raised I will be returning to the mission field this
coming Saturday, the 11th of August. While the time at home with my family
has been wonderful I am ready to return to Belize. Thinking about my
children and the relationships that I have built in Belize makes me long to
return. I cannot wait to get back and resume teaching with a whole new group
of ninth graders. Once again I will have the opportunity to share Christ
with students that may have never before heard the story of our Savior. My
younger sister, Caitlyn, will be returning with me to Belize this Saturday.
She will be in Belize until the 8th of September, attending the classes I
will be teaching and spending time with my students. I am so excited to have
her in Belize with me. I think that it will be a life changing experience
for her as she sees how much she has been blessed with here in the states,
yet how satisfaction in life does not come from these earthly possessions.
Please pray for Caitlyn and me as we leave for Belize on Saturday. Pray that
God will provide us with safe travel and help Caitlyn as she adjusts to
another culture. Also pray that I will not be overwhelmed by all that there
is to do when I return. The task is large, but I know that with God’s help
and strength the work will be accomplished. Also pray for all the ninth
grade students who are beginning their three weeks of summer school classes
today. Pray that God would work in their hearts even starting today.
Please also pray that God would strengthen me physically. I have had some
health issues over the past couple months relating to my hormones and skin.
I have seen several doctors and been on different medications but seen no
drastic improvement. I feel that since God did provide the money that I
needed to return to Belize that it is His will for me to return to the
mission field. I have been in contact with the medical clinic down in
Belize, which believes that they will be able to help administer the
medications that I need. I know that God works all things together for good
and that through trials He does make us stronger. There is a purpose even in
these current afflictions. I trust God will heal me in His timing and that
until then He will continue to walk by my side through this trial.
It has been wonderful to see many of you during my time home. Thank you
again for your continual prayers and for your financial support. You all
have encouraged me so very much. May I encourage you to continue to seek the
Lord with your whole heart and to serve Him with awe and reverence. Our God
is an awesome God!
Yours in Christ,
Julie Williams
