April 28, 2003 - A Short Note From Osorno, Chile Dear Friends, This is just a short update before I am leaving Osorno for the States. Our son, Lionel is getting married and I have the privilege of not only being attending, but officiating the ceremony. Stephanie is already in the States to help with the preparations. Presently we have a team visiting us here in Osorno from Duanesburg, NY. We are so glad for the body of Christ that can make such a difference in the Kingdom. They have come to work hard at helping to repair and paint the church, constructing cabinets as well as teaching how to run Bible clubs. It is so nice that the pastor came and he is also teaching the ministry students here on topical textual sermon preaching. They are enjoying seeing the body of Christ here in Osorno and are blessed by seeing other brothers and sisters in Christ that they are one with in the Spirit. It is amazing how the language barrier becomes insignificant in the warms of strong brotherly love. We are trusting that this will be the first of many teams that will come and help us extend the kingdom here in Chile. We also had the privilege of having Bill & Cindy Hay visiting us here from Birmingham Alabama in March. Their care and concern for the work is so uplifting and their presence ha mad a huge difference here. The church has been without leadership for so long and have gone through so many difficult experiences that they said that they felt that the Lord has put them aside. However, now they are saying that with new people coming and visiting them, they see that the Lord does love them in a practical way. Thank you to all who are supporting the work here. We ask you to please pray for us specifically about our green cards. Upon entering the States the last time, we found out that our physical green cards had been sent to us, but someone had returned it. The INS subsequently destroyed them. A few weeks ago we enquired abut our reapplication. It has totally evaporated. There is not a single trace that we had reapplied. We have to now start the process all over again. This may well drastically affect our ability to move to and from the field. Please pray that we will get our cards as well as the permits to work in the field. The team is wanting to have breakfast, so I better go for now. Richest blessings Johan - April 30, 2003 |
