Thank God for:
- I had wonderful travels to Mexico City, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and the Dominican Republic, but am delighted to be back in Zihuatanejo again.
- In Tajikistan, we visited some creative projects and held a Community Development Education training seminar.
- En route back, I was stuck in Turkey for an extra day, due to mechanical problems with the airplane. But thank God for safety in all these travels.
- Then Bibiana, Woodly, Anne and I had a short but productive meeting with Compassion International in the Dominican Republic, helping them to plan health teachings for many children.
- Thank God for the freedom that we have. We often take for granted our freedom to speak openly, as well as our freedom of the press, and the freedom to speak of our faith and worship openly. But many areas of the world do not have those freedoms.
- Jacob and Raquel had a wonderful training seminar in Chihuahua, where they are working with the Tarahumara people. They traveled into a mountain village, and have invitations to return. Pray that the gospel may penetrate and transform this culture.
Please be praying:
- Pray for the health of our Zihuatanejo team. Wayne continues to recover from the Cryptococcal meningitis. Pray for Wayne and Gaby—for health, for strength and endurance, and for God’s financial provision for them. (They do not have medical insurance.) Mari had a serious fall eighteen months ago, and now faces her second spinal surgery. Raque quite sick this month, and even had to go to Morelia for a CT scan and tests. She is doing better now, but still has severe headaches.
- In July, Hugo Gomez (our Regional Coordinator for Mesoamerica) and I will be visiting the CHE projects in Mexico City. Pray that we may encourage the teams in their CHE ministries. From there, we will travel to Oaxaca for an Area Council with teams from all over Mexico. Pray that the Lord will draw us together for a time of fellowship, teaching, and building each other up.
- July is also a time to work on budgets. Pray for God’s wisdom and his provision for LifeWind International as they (we) have been going through a hard time financially.
- In Zihuatanejo, we are trying to reach out more to the communities, working through the kids to reach their families. We will have a Club de Niños from July 23rd to 27th, but hope to draw in many of their parents as well, working together to prepare breakfasts for the kids. Thank God that some neighborhood families are starting to get involved in Bible studies. The children and their families are also involved in a recycling program. We work together with the local government. As the children bring in large bags of soda bottles to recycle, the government trades their bottles for some basic food supplies.
Many thanks for your faithful prayers and support. I look forward to getting together with you sometime, and will be glad to tell you more stories about what the Lord is doing in these countries.
Bendiciones,
Jody
