The Waldecker Family Update
November 14, 2005

Date: November 14, 2005

Thank you very much for your prayers on our behalf. Here is a link to our latest prayer letter that will be going out in the mail from MTW. It is available here on our mtwla.org website: http://www.mtwla.org/people/gwaldecker-pl/05dec.pdf

Also, I'm including here are the prayer requests listed in that letter--some of them expanded--plus some others:

1. The Leadership Team of MTW Latin America--of which I am a part--would like to see a greater sense of unity and cooperation developing among missionaries and national leaders across the region. Pray that we will be able to promote synergy among missionaries, and between missionaries and national workers. We would like to see this happen not just in every locale, but across the region.

2. Pray for the development of effective and contextualized leadership training models across Latin America. I have received requests from many places to help them with this process. I have been helping so far by writing papers on how training should be done, by traveling to different places in Latin America to talk to people about what effective training might look like, by giving seminars on training in various places, and by helping establish training programs.

3. Our support account has been slowly getting better. Please keep praying, as it is not yet in great shape.

4. Pray for the data collection and analysis phase of my doctoral studies. The process of transcribing interviews has been very slow, and is holding up the next visit to the site in Latin America. I had hoped to make my 4th and 5th visits by now, but it looks like I will have to wait until the first of next year.

5. Pray that some of the 38 students in my Theology of Missions class this fall at Covenant College would be moved to consider missions, and that the class would be beneficial to them.

6. Our son Seth is a senior this year a Covenant College. Please pray for him as he seeks guidance from the Lord about his future. He has been considering the possibility of pursuing a PhD in physics.

7. Pray for our son Micah as he is looking for a better-paying job so he can pay off his college debts. He has applied to be a medical interpreter (Spanish, of course) at a local hospital.

An Invitation:

In the interest of promoting more trans-regional communication, I have established a website in which I am trying to promote dialogue about issues in missions. This website is located at: http://missiontalk.paradigms.net. I would also like to invite those of you who are interested to participate. There are various ways of participating:
    1. Visit the website and read some of the articles and comments.
    2. Subscribe to the site so you receive an email every time a new post is made.
    3. Register so you can comment on articles or post your own thoughts.
This site is password protected. If you think you might be interested, write me an email and I'll send you the access information.

Thanks again for your support of us and the ministry the Lord has given us.
