The Waldecker Family Update
December 26, 2001

We want to thank you again for your support of us and our ministry. We feel we are in a privileged position to have so many people praying for us, and have experienced the power of your prayers in our lives and ministry.

We have done a lot of traveling since we arrived back in the States for our Home Ministry Assignment last June. This has included not only visiting supporting churches and individuals, but also trips to Peru and Chile, a meeting with the Guayaquil team near Atlanta, and a meeting with a new team that is heading to Vina del Mar, Chile, to reach out to university students.

As of November, at MTW's annual leadership meeting, I have been moved to a new position. Instead of being Regional Director for South America, I will lead a new team whose task is to help sharpen operational effectiveness for MTW's work in Latin America. In some ways I will continue what I was doing as Regional Director, but without the administrative work. I will be able to focus more on investing in our missionaries and national leaders. As of now there is only one other person on this team, Dave Strumbeck, who has been my assistant Regional Director.

Please pray for the eight young men who are preparing for the ministry in our training program in Chile. So far they are progressing well and enjoying the opportunity to prepare themselves. These are all university graduates or are finishing up their university degree. Some of them have left good paying jobs to take advantage of this program. A few weeks ago Dave Strumbeck and I went to Chile to teach them a course on Missiology.

Micah enjoyed his first semester at Covenant, found it challenging, learned a lot and finished with excellent grades. Seth also did very well in the class he audited.

I have been asked to be an adjunct professor for next semester at Covenant College. I'll be teaching the course in Theology of Missions. I'm looking forward to it.

Please continue to pray for our support account. There has been significant progress we are not as far in the red as we were last August. But MTW wants our account to be significantly in the black before they consider it to be within the normal operating range.

We hope you have a refreshing Christmas time as you look to Christ, the only one who can truly refresh us with his grace.

In our Lord,
Gary, Phyllis, Micah, Seth, Andrea and Audrey
