Thank you for your prayers for our meetings this last
week. They have gone well -- even better than we
expected, thanks to your prayers. But please continue to
pray because the meetings will continue and we are
dealing with some very important issues.
Some of you have asked about the robbery of Phyllis'
purse on Feb 18th. Nothing has been found to date. Six
checks have been written so far, but we blocked the
checks so the bank has rejected them. However, in
Chile you are basically guilty until proven innocent. So
someone who accepted one of these stolen checks
could put us (me, since the account is primarily in my
name) in jail for (supposedly) writing a check and then
refusing to pay, and I would stay there until we could
prove we took all the legal measures to protect
ourselves.
Please pray for me as I'll be preaching in Cristo Rey on
April 8 and 15th.
Also, please take note of this situation that came up
last week:
Over the weekend we learned that the bank which
holds the mortgage on the Cristo Rey property has
declared, since it is now used for a church building that
the land is worthless to them and they want the
outstanding loan of $300,000 paid by the end of the
month. The confusion comes from a change in an
account executive†who originally agreed to the purpose
of the land but did not put it in writing, and that the bank
has recently been bought by another bank in town.
Since a bank will not loan to a church, the four signers
of the original loan are in jeopardy, as well as the new
building. Your prayer here is deeply appreciated -
deeply.
We see this as an attack from the enemy, especially
since someone who works in the bank says something
like this has never happened before.
Thanks for your prayers.
