Helmly Update - January 15, 2007 Helmly Hello
A belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you. With mixed emotions I write to let you know that Frank’s mom passed away on Tuesday, December 19th. Terrie Jo Lever Helmly was 63. She fought a good fight during the five months she was home under hospice care, and now she is at home with Jesus. I was constantly amazed and encouraged by her wonderful attitude through it all. The last two weeks were difficult, as you might imagine. So we feel sadness, but there is also a sense of relief that she is no longer suffering, and we find true comfort knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven. Psalm 116:15 reminds us “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” I am grateful for the different projects I am able to do for MTW. One project has been to help expand the www.mtwla.org website. Another volunteer, Paul, has been building the web pages, and I have been obtaining the information for him. He has been wonderful to work alongside!! Check out the website, and soon you will be able to get updates on all the missionaries in Mexico, Central and South America and contact them with the click of a button! Although there are many prayer requests I could write about, here are two: Urgent prayer is needed for the country of Bolivia right now – my heart breaks for the servants of the Lord who desire to reach the unreached there. Read last Friday’s prayer request about the civil unrest from Earl Adams at http://www.mtwla.org/people/eadams-pl/07jan11.pdf. Thankfully the city where they live is calmer now but there are host of disruptions to daily life that will continue for the citizens and missionaries alike. The country of Ecuador has a new president, Rafael Correa. He was sworn in today with the president of Iran attending the ceremony. A news article from the BBC internet states “Mr. Correa faces a hostile Congress and must also please an electorate which has ousted the last three elected leaders before the ends of their terms.” Please pray for political and economic stability in this country and that the faith of the national believers would grow (Phil 1:9) “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight.” Gratefully yours, Darlene Helmly - January 15, 2007 |
