We are grateful for our support team, people such as you who heed God's gentle voice and have prayed for us as we seek the next step in our missionary journey. You have been a source of encouragement to Darlene and me, as we have not been pressured to move quickly. As a result we are taking the upcoming opportunity for me to travel to Ecuador Feb 27-March 9 and meet with the team, the team leader, and our regional director Keith Powlison to iron out some wrinkles in our ways of working with and relating to the team. We should come away with a good understanding of the team structure, general direction, and most importantly our future with the team in Quito. We will keep in touch to let you know what results from the meetings.

Recently we have heard good news from Quito about the Quichua women in the literacy class. Although some have dropped out, two are close to completing their primary education program. Three of the beginners who were unable to read 2 years ago are continuing in the primary education program. Unfortunately, the vocational program has been at a standstill without a person to coordinate activity there.

We have been able to enjoy the luxury of two cars while we have been home, and we are grateful that (as of this week) we have sold both. It feels like the adage about the two happiest days in the life of a boat owner - the day he buys his boat and the day he sells it! We now have borrowed a car from Darlene's parents to get around until our travel plans come together.
