I was in charge again with recreation/games...here Brazilian teenagers are learning "two-hand touch" American football. And yes, we're playing on a blacktop parking lot which was the only open space we had; they were careful and by God's grace no one was hurt. I'm in the blue shirt and Gui (who's helping me) is standing in the foreground to the right.

Heather Ludlum is having a great time teaching colors by way of the game Twister.

Heather Cullen ("Heather2") is teaching English by way of the game "hangman". We tried to do fun activities rather than just boring grammar to teach the language.

Hunter Turner had a great time working with some of the teens from favela São Fernando who participated in the English camp held at Chácara Primavera.

Each day, Lynn planned a "typical" American snack for the teens at English camp; it was a big hit as you can imagine! In this photo, Lynn speaking to Marta, a young lady from the church and Hilary with Yasmin, Caê's younger sister.

Nathan and Stephanie Cox are here planning the opening music for that particular day's camp. They chose contemporary popular music the kids would know, yet looked for redeeming qualities that could relate to biblical themes. Hilary has her back to the camera.

Jessica High and Jacob are being very engaging teachers for the teens! Actually, the teenagers really enjoyed having teachers "near their age" as opposed to "old fogeys" like me!

Pictured here are all of the interns who helped with the English camp along with Barbara, a university student who attends Chácara Primavera and was a great help both at this camp and at the VBS the previous week. From left: Hunter Turner (sitting), Heather Cullen (foreground), Heather Ludlum (blond hair), Jessica High, Barbara, Stephanie Cox, and Nathan Ward.

Hunter is here leading a discussion group in English with university students and other interested adults. We held this aspect of the English camp in the evenings at a house rented by students at UNICAMP (University of Campinas) near the campus.

Of course, the most important time of the Adult English camp was the social time and food at the end of the evening!
